This recipe is the real thing.
Throw out your curry powder, you'll never use it again.
Chicken curry made using real spices can't be beaten!!

    1kg Chicken pieces  
    3tsp Fresh ginger, finely minced
Real Spice Chicken Curry
    3tsp Fresh garlic, finely minced
    1 Large onion, chopped
    1 2" Cinnamon stick
    2 Whole brown cardamom pods
    4 Whole green cardamom pods
    1 Whole star anise
    (use all 8 arms and the seeds inside them)
    10 Black peppercorns
    6 Cloves
    1tsp Turmeric 3 tbls Oil
    1tsp Red chili powder or 100ml Yoghurt
    substitute fresh red chilies, finely minced Salt to taste
    Fresh coriander leaves

Break apart the star anise to release the seeds inside the arms.
Heat oil in a large pan, add the onions, cinnamon, cardamom pods,
  star aniseed, peppercorns and cloves.
  Cook for 3 minutes until the onions have softened,
  then add the ginger and garlic and cook until everything is golden brown.
Add the chicken, turmeric, and chili powder cover and cook on a
medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring often.
Next add the yoghurt, stir well to mix everything.
  Cover and cook on a medium heat for 15 minutes
5. Finally add fresh chopped coriander and serve.
